Crimean Man Planned to Travel to Ukraine and Fight Against Russia — Arrested

A resident of the village of Simeiz in the Yalta urban district was arrested in a criminal case on preparation for a terrorist act. The man was planning to leave for Ukraine to take part in military operations against Russia, the press service of the FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol reported.

It was established that a resident of the urban-type settlement of Simeiz, born in 1987, decided to leave Russia for the territory of Ukraine to participate in military operations as part of a terrorist group. The Investigative Department of the UFSB opened a criminal case against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization). The Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant.— the message says.

The man contacted representatives of a terrorist organization via the Internet, expressed his desire to take part in military operations against the Russian army, and also received detailed instructions on how to join the ranks of the banned formation. FSB officers found and seized a personal computer and communication devices used to communicate with the curator at the defendant’s place of residence.
