The team of the Republic of Crimea became the winner of the final of the IV All-Russian Festival of GTO Champions “GTO Games” in Sochi.
The competitions took place on the territory of the sports center of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «South Sport» from April 19 to 21. Teams from 38 regions of the country competed to reach the finals, participating in 5 types of races: running relay (4 x 400), power relay, pairs race, shuttle relay and GTO Classic Race.
In the final of the Race of Champions, the Crimeans took 1st place. In the overall team competition of the “GTO Games” – 3rd place. First place in the individual competition went to two Crimean athletes — Elena Yuzhakova and Edem Ametov, who won the “Going for a Record” competition, setting records of the “GTO Games” in the press and kettlebell snatch, respectively.
The team consists of 7 people, including 6 athletes: Anastasia Kazakova, Edem Ametov, Natalya Yozhkina, Togrul Kazymov, Elena Yuzhakova, Askar Askarov, as well as the team representative — Larisa Grebinchik— said the Ministry of Sports of Crimea.
Based on the results of 5 races, the Crimean team from third place became one of the finalists. In the final race, participants started according to the handicap rule. The gap from the leader was 1 minute 9 seconds. Our team already at the first stage reduced the gap to a minimum; by the fourth stage the Crimeans were already the leaders of the race. And they maintained the lead, which ensured victory.
