Demand for holidays in Crimea to recover in July – ATOR forecast

Demand for holidays on the Crimean Peninsula and in Dagestan after the tragic events of June 23 will recover in July, reported TASS Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze.
Demand for vacations fell less than market participants expected. Tour operators believe that if no incidents occur, demand will recover in July. Cancellations after June 23 were within 2-3% of total sales, and with the cancellations of tours there were new bookingsshe said.
According to Lomidze, the decrease in the dynamics of purchases of tours to Dagestan and Crimea amounted to about 20% week-on-week; tour operators note the absence of a noticeable redistribution of demand to other destinations.
Recall that on June 23, Ukraine attacked civilian infrastructure in Sevastopol with ATACMS tactical missiles with cluster warheads. Four missiles were shot down, and the fifth exploded over the city. More than 150 people were injured, and four were killed. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on terrorist attacks. In Dagestan, on June 23, a group of five terrorists attacked two Orthodox churches and two synagogues in Derbent and Makhachkala. 21 people were killed, 26 were injured.
