Ecologists checked the «shell dump» in Kerch

The storage of mollusk shells and shells in the area of the former Azovsky plant in Kerch does not have a negative impact on the environment. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea.
Employees of the Crimean Ministry of Natural Resources conducted a survey of the territory in the area of Cape Lantern (ferry crossing). About this «shell dump» — HERE.
The Crimean Ministry of Natural Resources notifies citizens that the storage of shells and shells of mollusks (rapana) in the area of the former Azovsky building materials plant in Kerch does not have a negative impact on the environment , the press service notes . — It has been established that the area where the shells and shells of mollusks are stored has a hard surface. This site is not a source of emissions of harmful (polluting) substances into the air. In addition, there are no water bodies in the indicated territory, and therefore the possibility of its flooding is excluded.
Conclusion of ecologists: violations of the requirements of environmental legislation in the field of atmospheric air protection, waste management of production and consumption, use and protection of water bodies, the requirements of land legislation in terms of unauthorized storage of waste were not identified.

Sanitary and epidemiological surveys in order to establish the harmful effects of environmental factors on humans are carried out by officials exercising federal state sanitary and epidemiological supervision.
In connection with the incoming complaints from residents, a meeting was held in the administration of Kerch on the issue of storing rapans. The head of the city administration, the head of the department of state control (supervision) of the Kerch region, representatives of the Rospotrebnadzor of the Republic of Crimea, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea, the Kerch interdistrict environmental prosecutor’s office and the tenant of the land took part.
Based on the results, it was decided that the officials of Rospotrebnadzor would take samples of the atmospheric air of the residential area adjacent to the place of storage of rapans.
