«Emergency» summary of the accident last week on the roads of Sevastopol

Last week on the roads of Sevastopol there was an accident in which 16 people received various injuries, including two minors: a 6-year-old girl suddenly ran out onto the roadway because of parked vehicles, the driver of a Renault car while reversing hit a 5-year-old boy.
The traffic police officers revealed 675 administrative offenses, including 31 the driver was driving while intoxicated, 8 of which repeatedly, for which criminal liability is provided, 61 the driver violated the rules for driving a pedestrian crossing, 16 drove into the oncoming lane in violation of traffic rules , — reported in the State traffic inspectorate.
In the coming week, traffic inspectors will carry out preventive measures “Bacchus”, “Defaulter”, “Beacon”, “Pedestrian crossing”, “Moto”, “Search”, “Night city”, “Drunken driver” and “Overtaking”.
The State traffic inspectorate of Sevastopol also informs about the increasing cases of accidents with motor vehicle drivers. In only six months 2022 of the year, there were 38 accidents involving motorcycle drivers in the city, in which one person died and another 41 got injured.
The main causes of accidents with motorcyclists were: non-observance of the order of travel — 12; inconsistency of speed with specific traffic conditions — ; wrong choice of distance — 6. In July, 7 drivers of two-wheeled vehicles became participants in traffic accidents, one of which was in a state of intoxication at the time of the accident, 2 did not have the right to drive , the traffic police noted.
Road traffic accidents involving motorcycle drivers are characterized by a high severity of consequences due to the lack of passive protection. Therefore, inspectors urge owners of two-wheeled vehicles to strictly observe the established speed limit, the rules for overtaking and maneuvering, the safe interval and distance while driving. Also, drivers of motorcycles and scooters must move with dipped headlights during daylight hours in order to identify them, motorists and their passengers must wear a fastened motorcycle helmet while driving. At night and in conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to use retroreflective elements.
