Evpatoria Research Institute of Children's Balneology, Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation — 45 years

GBUZ RK «Scientific Research Institute of Children’s Balneology, Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation» celebrates the 45th anniversary of its core activities. The institution was founded in 1978 in the city of Evpatoria as a branch of the Central Order of the Red Banner of Labor of the Ministry of Health of the USSR Research Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy on the basis of the sanatoriums Yubileyny, Iskra, Zdravnitsa, Yuzhny, Orlyonok. The Institute received its current name in 2015.

The Institute carries out profile activities in close cooperation with the Department of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Russian Academy of Sciences» for interaction with scientific organizations of the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol.

Over the years of work, the research team has completed 67 thematic research papers to study the mechanisms of the therapeutic effect of natural and preformed physical factors on various systems of the child’s body; problems of rest, health improvement, rehabilitation treatment, medical rehabilitation of children and adolescents with chronic and disabling diseases, as well as children at risk for tuberculosis and children affected by emergencies. The study of new aspects of adaptation and readaptation of a healthy and sick child, the integral medical and psychological state of the child’s body continues.— said the acting director of the institution, Doctor of Medical Sciences Olga Garmash.

The scientists of the institute provide consultative-diagnostic, scientific-practical and organizational-methodical assistance to the sanatorium-and-spa institutions of the Crimea. Conferences, final scientific sessions with the publication of scientific materials are held annually, seminars for practical healthcare practitioners operate on an ongoing basis.

The institution regularly publishes methodological recommendations, patents and other information materials for practical healthcare practitioners. More than 50 guidelines have been published, 20 invention patents have been received. More than 100 scientific papers have been published. Clinical recommendations for treatment and diagnostic care, procedures (schemes) for managing patients at the sanatorium-resort stage are being developed.

At present, the staff of the institute is involved in the systematic work on the development of the sanatorium-resort sector of the city of Evpatoria and the entire Republic of Crimea.
