Exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Sevastopol sculptor Olga Minkova — presentation March 7
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, from March 7 to April 21, the exhibition «Woman’s face under a gentle hand» will be held. The exposition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Sevastopol sculptor, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR Olga Minkova, will be presented at the Ukraina cinema.
Olga Minkova is an Honored Artist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. She worked in different types and genres of sculpture, mainly in the field of easel sculpture. She loved to create women’s and children’s images, sculptural portraits of people with a bright, unusual fate.
Her authorship belongs to the sculptural busts of prominent personalities. Already four days after Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space, on April 16, 1961, a bust of the first cosmonaut of the planet, created in one night, was opened in Simferopol. It became the world’s first sculptural portrait — a monument to Yuri Gagarin. Olga Minkova also created busts of the Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Petrov, Nina Onilova, Stepan Neustroev, the «sun of Russian poetry» Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, and the traveler-anthropologist N. N. Miklukho-Maclay.
The exhibition will present new acquisitions in the funds of the Museum of Defense of Sevastopol — sculptures, awards, tools of the master.
