Former Minister of Culture of Crimea Arina Novoselskaya intends to leave for the Northern Military District zone. From the colony

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The former head of the Ministry of Culture of Crimea Vera (Arina) Novoselskaya, sentenced to 10 years in prison for bribery, applied for service in the zone of a special military operation. About it TASS reported the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission.

The other day, members of the commission inspected pre-trial detention center No. 6 in Moscow, where, among other things, they spoke with the former Minister of Culture of Crimea Vera (Arina) Novoselskaya. She told them that she had applied to serve in the SVO. According to the former official, she submitted the application three months ago and hopes that it will be considered in the near future, — said the agency’s interlocutor.

As Maria Botova, a member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Committee, told TASS:

Novoselskaya spoke very positively about the detention center staff; according to her, the staff are trying very hard to make the prison look as little like a prison as possible.

The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow in November 2023 sentenced Novoselskaya to 10 years in prison for accepting a bribe in the amount of 25 million rubles during the construction of the Crimean State Center for Children’s Theater Arts. As the court found, she received a bribe in 2018 from the beneficiary of Meander LLC for general patronage during construction and installation work. The court imposed an additional penalty on her in the form of a fine in the amount of 128 million rubles, deprived her of the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation and banned her from holding positions in government bodies in the field of education for 15 years. The property of Novoselskaya and her family members was seized. She appealed the verdict.

From 2007 to 2012, Novoselskaya was an assistant to the People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Elena Netetskaya, later she became the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and then the director of the Crimean Academic Puppet Theater. After the reunification of Crimea with Russia, Novoselskaya became the head of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea. On November 22, 2021, she was fired due to loss of confidence.
