The United Credit Bureau (UCB) summed up the results of car loans to citizens in the first quarter of 2024.

In the first three months of 2024, Russians were issued 255.08 thousand car loans worth 388.90 billion rubles. Compared to Q1 last year, issue volumes increased by 101%, and quantity — by 72%. In the first quarter In 2023, 148.58 thousand car loans were issued for 193.02 billion rubles. The average car loan size increased by 17%: from 1.30 to 1.52 million rubles. Average car loan term in Q1. last year was 59 months. (4 years 11 months). In the first quarter this year, car loans were issued for a longer period: on average 69 months. (5 years 9 months).

In March, the volume of new car loans issued for the month increased by 30%, and the number — by 29%. During the month, 108.57 thousand car loans were issued for 167.77 billion rubles, a month earlier – 84.47 thousand loans for 128.93 billion rubles. The average car loan bill for the month increased by 1%: from 1.53 to 1.55 million rubles. The average car loan term increased by 1 month and amounted to 69 months. On an annual basis, the volume of new car loans issued increased by 126%, and the number by 101%. In March 2023, 53.93 thousand car loans were issued for 74.20 billion rubles. The average size of a car loan increased over the year by 12%: from 1.38 million rubles. The average car loan term increased by 9 months over the year: in March last year it was 60 months. The list of TOP-5 regions in terms of car loan issuance volumes has not changed since the beginning of the year; in March it included: Moscow — 8.76 thousand car loans worth 18.43 billion rubles, Moscow region. – 8.37 thousand loans for 15.51 billion rubles, St. Petersburg – 6.04 thousand loans for 10.95 billion rubles, Krasnodar Territory – 4.99 thousand loans for 8.13 billion rubles. and Tatarstan – 5.45 thousand loans worth 7.87 billion rubles.

An increase in the volume and number of car loan issuances in March compared to February indicators was recorded in absolutely all regions of the Russian Federation. The most “modest” growth dynamics are observed in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where the volume of car loans increased by 31%, and the number of issues – by 38%. In the capital, the volume of car loans increased by 101%, the number of issues – by 82%. Among the TOP-30 regions in terms of car loan issuance volumes, the highest growth rates are in Chuvashia: the volume of car loans in the republic increased by 226%, and the number of issuances by 213%.

The average car loan size in most regions also increased in March compared to February. The largest increase was recorded in the Magadan region: +74%. The size of the car loan remained unchanged in the Khabarovsk Territory. A decrease in the average car loan bill was noted in Dagestan, Kalmykia, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Sakhalin Region, Karachay-Cherkessia, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Jewish Autonomous Okrug, Yakutia, Kamchatka Territory and in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, where the largest decrease was set: -8%.

The largest car loans were issued in March to residents of Moscow — an average of 2.10 million rubles, Moscow region. – 1.85 million rubles, St. Petersburg – 1.81 million rubles, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug – 1.74 million rubles. and the Altai Republic – 1.73 million rubles.

Car loans for the longest period – 79 months. (6 years 7 months) — issued in March in Tyva. The shortest car loan period was recorded in Chechnya – 52 months. (4 years 4 months). In Moscow, Kostroma, Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Smolensk, Vladimir, Tula regions and Dagestan, the average car loan term was 66 months. (5 years 6 months).
