In Sevastopol, parades are held at home for veterans. Today the parade was hosted by retired colonel Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kuzmin, born in 1927, and retired colonel Nikolai Alekseevich Tokarev, also born in 1927.

The Black Sea Fleet, together with the Government of Sevastopol, continues the “Parade to the Yard” campaign — with this campaign we congratulate our veterans on Victory Day, we ourselves come to their yard and hold mini-parades. Today the event is attended by the orchestra of the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, a company of honor guard, members of the Youth Army of the city of Sevastopol and, of course, the song and dance ensemble of the Black Sea Fleet— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet for military-political work, captain of the first rank Vyacheslav Vitold.

Nikolai Alekseevich Tokarev shared his impressions and recalled moments of front-line life:

Delighted, yes. It’s nice, being a defender of the Motherland, to know that you will someday congratulate me like this. We were walking one day, the forest was all around, it smelled of bread, we stopped and found a stump. And from the hemp there was the smell of bread… We went around with bayonets, found a hatch, and opened it. We shout: “Come out, throw a grenade,” — they are silent. We waited for about a minute and a half or two. Maksimov says: “Give me a pistol and a flashlight.” And then he’s gone for two, three, five minutes. We think everything, Khan. Another brave one also dived in: it turns out that Maksimov only eats baked bread and Ukrainian lard there — they didn’t feed him like they do now, in general. Bandera’s followers had a bakery there.
