The ceremony of merging the Eternal Flames took place in Sevastopol

On the eve of Victory Day, as part of the All-Russian campaign “Honor and Dignity”, a ceremony of merging the Eternal Flames was held in Sevastopol.

Particles of the Eternal Flames from memorable places — Malakhov Kurgan, Sapun Mountain, the Memorial to the Defenders of Sevastopol 1941-1942, from the hero city of Kerch and the city of military glory of Feodosia — united into the Eternal Flame of Sevastopol and Crimea.

One of the most important events of our city took place — the merging of the eternal lights of hero cities and cities of military glory, as a symbol of a common, great and important Victory. This action, which is taking place in our city for the tenth time, has become a good tradition, reminding us of unity, solidarity and peace. The event has been held in the city of Sevastopol since 2014.

Every year, Nakhimov residents who remember the exploits of their great-grandfathers take part in the patriotic event. History is already being rewritten in many countries, but we will not forget that Victory in the Great Patriotic War is primarily the merit of the Soviet Union. Of course, there was colossal help from other nations — but the Soviet people won the victory,” notes Boris Oleynitsky, teacher of the training course at the Nakhimov Naval School, captain of the 1st rank of the reserve.

The event was attended by Nakhimov students from the fifth grade and standard bearers from the tenth grade of the school.

We need to remember how our great-grandfathers fought, remember the Great Patriotic War — today there is both a feeling of joy and a feeling of grief — they died defending their Motherland and achieved Victory. I took part in such an event for the first time, today I remembered my relatives who participated in the war: these are Vasily Petrenko and Mikhail Kalienko — both went through the Great Patriotic War, Vasily Petrenko also participated in the Soviet-Japanese War,” shares Alexander, a graduate of the Nakhimov Naval School.
