“Garden of Memory” campaign: the 10-millionth tree was planted in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, on the territory of the Sapun-Gora memorial complex, as part of the international event “Garden of Memory”, a seedling clone of the Victory Poplar was planted. The event was attended by the director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of Sevastopol, Yulia Gavrilova, and a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Mikhail Latokha. They were also joined by students from the “School Forestry” of the Engineering School. The sapling became the 10 millionth tree of the “Garden of Memory” campaign this season.
The Stalingrad poplar is of great importance in the military-patriotic education of the younger generation as a natural and historical monument, note the organizers of the landing in Sevastopol. To preserve this symbol of Victory for future generations, in the biotechnology laboratory of the Volgograd region, scientists carried out work on cloning its seedlings. In March 2024, at the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia”, such a seedling was presented to Sevastopol.
We must love the Motherland and the land on which this Motherland is located, because the land is our breadwinner. We must never forget about the past. There were difficult times, but victorious ones. It’s a great thing to plant the Victory Poplar today, and in such pleasant companynotes Mikhail Latokha.
On this day, the planting of Crimean pine also took place — a gift from the Government of the Republic of Crimea, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the return of Sevastopol and Crimea to the Russian Federation.
I think that Victory Day should always be celebrated, even if 100 or 200 years pass. So that people know that killing each other is the most terrible crime. And those who stopped this are all real Heroes. Today, for example, this seedling is like a link of memory between the Heroes and us, their descendantsnotes School Forestry student Artur Reshetnik.
