December 9 in Russia is Heroes of the Fatherland Day. In the recent history of Russia, in the 2007 year, our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin revived the tradition of honoring heroes. This is a tribute to those who were awarded the titles of Heroes of the USSR and Russia, as well as the Orders of Glory and St. George.

If we do not remember the heroic deeds of our ancestors, predecessors, then we are unlikely to be capable of deeds ourselves. 252 Sevastopol residents became Heroes of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. In Sevastopol, almost all the streets of our city bear the names of heroes. Our Sevastopol is a Hero City, which was awarded the highest degree of distinction precisely for the courage and heroism of the defenders.

Infantry General Pyotr Bagration has this phrase: «Happiness is always on the side of the brave.»

On this day, we not only pay tribute to the memory of our ancestors, but also honor the living heroes of Russia, remember the fallen heroes of Donbass: Alexander Zakharchenko, Arsen Pavlov, Mikhail Tolstykh, Artem Zhogu, Olga Kachura, who were the first to defend their Motherland.

Now our soldiers are once again demonstrating invincible fortitude and courage, participating in a special military operation in Ukraine.
