He spied and stored explosives. A Ukrainian agent-saboteur was detained in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Crimea, operatives of the Center for Combating Extremism identified the fact that one of the citizens was collecting information about strategically important objects on the territory of the Republic. The agent, who believed in “anonymity on the Internet,” published this information (photos and videos) in pro-Ukrainian public pages.
Police officers, together with colleagues from the FSB of Russia, during an operational investigation, established the identity of the citizen. He turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of the Simferopol region. During surveillance of the suspect, it was established that the citizen moved around populated areas near strategic sites on a bicycle and took photos and videos with a hidden camera— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
Information was also received that this person may store prohibited items and substances at his place of residence for the possible commission of extremist and terrorist crimes. That is, a Ukrainian agent could at any moment become a saboteur and cause a lot of trouble.
On January 12, during an inspection of the suspect’s home, investigators discovered and seized: several mobile phones, mini-cameras for remote surveillance, computer equipment containing information with prohibited content, flash drives, items similar to homemade unmanned aerial vehicles and parts for them, a large sum of money funds in rubles and foreign currency, as well as explosives, including TNT and an object with external characteristics similar to an improvised explosive device. An examination has been ordered.
According to the suspect, he received part of the money as a reward for completing tasks from the Ukrainian intelligence services, to whom he provided information. In addition, an object was found in the household that was recognized by examination as a TNT block weighing 400 grams.
The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Simferopol region has opened a criminal case against the attacker on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The court of the Simferopol district of the Republic of Crimea chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a citizen,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea clarified.
Currently, employees of the Center for Special Investigations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea and the FSB of Russia are carrying out further operational search activities aimed at documenting other criminal activities of the detainee, including those of a terrorist nature.
