Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov: «Ecological well-being is an important condition for the development of the economy of the Republic»

Commentary by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov in connection with the Day of Ecologist and World Environment Day.

June 5 — Ecologist’s Day and World Environment Day. I congratulate the workers of the environmental sector and everyone who contributes to the preservation and enhancement of natural resources on their professional holiday!

Ecological well-being is an important condition for the development of the Crimean economy, first of all, the sanatorium and resort sector. And, of course, this is one of the key factors affecting people’s health.

From 2022 to 2024, in our republic, within the framework of the national project «Ecology», it is planned to build three facilities for the processing, disposal and disposal of MSW. Last year alone, more than a hundred spontaneous dumps were eliminated, more than 280 hectares of forest crops were planted, and three specially protected natural areas of regional significance were created. Work continues on clearing the riverbeds.

Unfortunately, the environmental agenda often becomes an instrument of political speculation or unfair competition. A good example is the NGO Greenpeace, whose activities have recently been declared undesirable in Russia.

Environmental education always begins with the awareness of personal responsibility. Crimea is our common home, therefore respect for nature, preservation of the environment is our common cause, — says the congratulation of the Head of the Crimea.
