How Victory Day was celebrated in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On May 9, Sevastopol celebrated Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders.

For Sevastopol, this is a double holiday, so many ceremonial events took place the day before. Despite the current restrictions in the city, this holiday resonates in the heart of every Sevastopol resident. Happy holiday, dear residents of Sevastopol! — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the deputy governor of the city Igor Mikheev.

Festive concerts were traditionally held on the summer stage of Primorsky Boulevard “Rakushka”, in Victory Park, and Balaklava. In the library named after L.N. Tolstoy, Sevastopol residents were treated to a festive marathon “Victory Day in a Tolstoy.” Lectures were held here, a literary and musical lounge and a book exhibition on the works of front-line writers were organized.

Our family celebrates Victory Day every year; it has already become a tradition for us. The whole family goes out into the city with portraits of our relatives — participants in the Great Patriotic War. For Sevastopol residents, of course, this holiday is special, so we congratulate all the citizens! — said Alexandra, a resident of Sevastopol.

The film “Liberation of Sevastopol 1944” was shown at the Moscow, Pobeda, Rossiya, Oktyabr, and Moryak cinemas and at Rakushka. Also in the summer cinema on Matrossky Boulevard there was a screening of the film “The Sea on Fire”.
