Having agreed with the position of the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol, the court issued a guilty verdict in a criminal case against a resident of the city of Yalta, born in 2000.
He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions expressing clear disrespect for society and committed with the aim of insulting the religious feelings of believers). It was established that a student at one of the higher educational institutions of Sevastopol committed actions that violated the rights to freedom of conscience and religion. In March 2022, in a group chat on the Telegram messenger, he published statements containing coarse profanity and insulting the feelings of followers of one of the world’s religions. This fact was revealed by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The investigation into the criminal case was carried out by the investigative department for the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol,” the details of the case were announced by the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.
The magistrate of the Gagarinsky judicial district of Sevastopol sentenced the perpetrator to 200 hours of compulsory labor. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
