If you found a wallet, contact the police. An instructive story about a Crimean woman who didn’t do that
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A 29-year-old local resident contacted the Saksky Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and asked for help in finding a stolen wallet with money. The man said that in the parking lot of the store he dropped his wallet, which contained about 7 thousand rubles. Later, having discovered the loss of a personal item, the applicant returned, but the wallet was no longer there.
Hot on the trail, investigators identified the suspect. She turned out to be a resident of the Saki district, who admitted that she pocketed the money from a wallet found in the parking lot and threw the wallet away— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
All embezzled money was confiscated and returned to the rightful owner. But this doesn’t make it any easier for the Crimean woman — under Part 1 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), a criminal case was initiated. The sanction of the article provides for punishment from a large fine to two years in prison. A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the suspect.
But everything could have been much simpler…
