In the Black Sea region, the court issued a verdict against the driver who caused the accident. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules resulting in the death of the victim through negligence).

The court found that at the beginning of May 2021, the defendant, driving along the Chernomorskoye-Evpatoria highway in a VAZ 21140 car, did not give way to a Lada Vesta car and caused a collision with it. As a result of a traffic accident, a passenger in a VAZ 21140 car died from herbs, and the second passenger in this car suffered serious harm to health.— reported the prosecutor’s office.

The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to 2 years and 8 months of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 2 years and 6 months.

The court satisfied the claims of two victims for the recovery of moral damages from the convicted person in the amount of 800 thousand rubles each. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
