IMPORTANT!!! A new alarm signal has been introduced in Sevastopol: «Ballistics!»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Last week, following an emergency session of the Legislative Assembly, a resolution was adopted introducing a set of measures to make the city as safe as possible. One of the solutions was the introduction of an additional warning signal “Ballistics!”
This signal must be responded to immediately, there is time up to two minutes. There is also a second, traditional signal «air raid alarm», which gives more time to calmly go down to the basement or take shelter — about 20-30 minutes, as it was before— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
The Director of the Department of Public Safety, Alexey Krasnokutsky, reported on the operation of the new signal.
A new terrorist threat has emerged in connection with the enemy’s use of missiles equipped with cluster warheads against civilians. The «Ballistics!» signal will be heard on all means of warning: sirens, radio, television. This is a signal that people need to respond to almost immediately.— emphasizes Alexey Krasnokutsky.
In other words, it is necessary to leave open spaces as quickly as possible, not to be near large glass buildings, and to take shelter.
The Sevastopol Government emphasizes: the air raid alarm signal is not cancelled. Depending on the threat, the military either announces an air raid alarm or reports a ballistic hazard.
Civil defense experts explain that the difference between the two signals is the amount of time that all city residents have to react and take safe places. If the enemy launches Storm Shadow missiles, the launch is from aircraft carriers and people have up to 20-30 minutes to react and move to shelter. The threat of a ballistic missile strike leaves almost no time for maneuvering: after receiving the signal, there is only 1-2 minutes to find a safe place and take cover from cluster submunitions or flying shrapnel.
Important! If the «Ballistics» signal catches you at home, do not go out! It can be dangerous outside. Take a place away from the windows, near a load-bearing wall.
If the «Ballistics» signal catches you on the street, try to find a safe place as quickly as possible. All institutions, except for restricted ones, are required to let people in.
The main danger comes from submunitions.
The M74 submunition is a steel shell filled with explosive. When colliding with the ground, water, the submunitions can explode. When detonated, each submunition produces a large number of steel fragments with a large radius of destruction.
Do not touch them under any circumstances! If you find them, call 112, pyrotechnicians will promptly leave for the scene.
