In Alushta, a careless young lady “left” 10 thousand rubles in an ATM. And, of course, someone “willing” to take other people’s money was found

A 47-year-old resident of Alushta contacted the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Alushta with a statement about the theft of funds. The victim explained that she used an ATM at one of the grocery stores to deposit money into her bank account. After placing the cash in the bill acceptor, the woman was not convinced that the transaction was completed and left the store. Soon the applicant returned to the ATM, since there was no credit to the account, but there was no more cash in the compartment. The amount of material damage amounted to 10 thousand rubles.

As a result of operational search measuresacceptances, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Alushta identified a suspect, who turned out to be a previously unconvicted 54-year-old local resident. The suspect confessed to his crime. It was established that the victim, having placed the money in a special compartment of the ATM, did not complete the operation to credit the funds and left the store. The attacker behind the applicant took advantage of the situation and appropriated other people’s money, canceling the current action. Material damage was compensated to the victim in full— the details of the story were announced in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.

The investigator opened a criminal case on this fact on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the suspect.

Police officers warn! If you find forgotten funds at an ATM, under no circumstances should you take them away! This is a criminal offense. You should call the support phone number indicated on the ATM and report the incident; you can also inform the administration of the institution where the ATM is installed about the situation, or call the police at the single telephone number 102.
