This has never happened in Crimea before.
The most powerful storm in the entire history of meteorological observations hit Crimea, reported RIA News scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
The agency’s interlocutor noted that a similar storm covered Balaklava on November 14, 1854 during the Crimean War. Then the flotilla of the Allies (England, Turkey, France and Sardinia) received serious damage — over 30 ships sank off the coast.
There really was a strong storm there, but we had no observations thensaid Vilfand.
According to him, Monday will be the most difficult in southern Russia, with bad weather with precipitation and strong winds lasting until Wednesday.
Until Wednesday there is still such a very troubled situation, the wind on the Black Sea coast will increase to 26 meters per second, in Crimea it will be 25 meters per second, but still not 40noted the head of the Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Crimea, 93 residential buildings, 100 guest houses and the basements of 2 apartment buildings in Yevpatoria and the Saki region are currently flooded. In addition, heat supply was disrupted in 5 apartment buildings with a population of 260 people. 81 brigades were involved in carrying out repair and restoration work.
311 people, including 43 children, were evacuated from flood zones (primarily in Evpatoria). There are 71 people in two temporary accommodation centers, 11 of them children.
Due to bad weather in Crimea, 7 people were injured and one person died. Another one is listed as missing.
