In Armyansk, the police discovered a tobacco “cargo without markings”… worth nine million rubles

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Armyansk, police revealed evidence of transportation of illegal tobacco products on an especially large scale.

During operational activities at the Armyansk multilateral automobile checkpoint, two facts of transportation and sale of unlabeled tobacco products on an especially large scale were revealed. The total amount of illegal goods seized amounted to more than 9 million rubles. When checking documents and cargo transported in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, police found boxes of well-known tobacco products without excise stamps and with excise stamps that did not meet the requirements of Goznak and were not marked on the territory of the Russian Federation. The driver, a 58-year-old resident of the Kherson region, did not have accompanying documents for the cargo. In total, the citizen transported 31,660 packs of cigarettes totaling more than 5 million rubles— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

The second attacker turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Armyansk. In his Ford Transit car, police found 35,430 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps and with excise stamps that did not meet Goznak requirements, totaling more than four million rubles. The man also could not provide accompanying documents for the cargo.

According to available data, citizens intended to sell illegal products in the neighboring region.

Tobacco products were seized and sent for examination. On the grounds of a crime under Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Production, acquisition, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products without labeling and (or) application of information provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation”), a criminal case was initiated.

The sanction of this article provides for punishment from a large fine to 6 years in prison. Other persons involved in illegal activities are being identified.
