In Crimea, police detained a suspect in extortion of a large sum of money

Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Simferopol and employees of the regional FSB Directorate of Russia, detained a 43-year-old local resident who is suspected of extortion. According to preliminary data, the attacker, under the threat of violence, demanded money from a female notary, allegedly to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
As a result of operational search activities, the police, with forceful support from the National Guard, detained the suspect. During searches at the place of residence of the defendant and his parents, mobile phones, SIM cards, a large amount of money in rubles and foreign currency, documents, as well as other items of evidentiary value were confiscated.
An investigator from the Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the suspect.the message says.
Further measures are being taken to establish all the facts and accomplices of the illegal activities.
