In Dzhankoy, the driver was prosecuted for repeated driving while intoxicated.
Traffic police officers of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Dzhankoysky» stopped a Mercedes-Benz driven by a 34-year-old local resident at night on one of the streets of the city of Dzhankoy. The driver’s behavior indicated that he was intoxicated. The man was tested on the spot for alcohol intoxication; the results of the breathalyzer were five times higher than the permissible limit.— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
Police officers conducted an inspection, during which it was established that the detainee had previously been brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a driver who is intoxicated, if such actions do not constitute a criminal offense).
Based on the materials collected by the State Traffic Inspectorate, the investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Dzhankoisky” opened a criminal case against the driver on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a car by a person in a state of intoxication subject to administrative punishment for driving a vehicle while intoxicated),” the police clarified.
The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to two years.
Since the beginning of this year, 293 cases of driving a vehicle while intoxicated have been suppressed in Dzhankoy and Dzhankoy district, of which 48 people were punished under the law for repeated driving by a person in a state of intoxication.
