In Evpatoria, Krasnoperekopsk, Saki, Dzhankoy, Armyansk — poor quality drinking water

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The water does not meet the standards for hardness, mineralization, chlorides, nitrates, and sulfates.

Rospotrebnadzor informs on the quality of drinking water in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in 2023. The information is, to put it mildly, alarming.

Firstly, in Crimea, for some reason, the number of people provided with centralized water supply has decreased.

The share of the population provided with high-quality drinking water in 2023 in the Republic of Crimea as a whole amounted to 70.8%, which is 1.1% lower than in 2022 (in 2022 — 71.9%); in the federal city of Sevastopol — 97.3%, which is at the level of 2022 (in 2022 — 97.3%)states Rospotrebnadzor.

Another problem is that the water itself is of poor quality.

The entire population of the cities of Evpatoria, Krasnoperekopsk, Saki, Dzhankoy, Armyansk, Krasnoperekopsk region is provided with low-quality drinking water, which does not meet hygienic standards in terms of general hardness, total mineralization, chlorides, nitrates, sulfates— emphasized in Rospotrebnadzor.

Drinking water quality control is carried out by the Interregional Directorate of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as part of social and hygienic monitoring, during control and supervisory activities, when considering appeals from individuals and legal entities.

In 2023, 19,706 samples of drinking water were examined for sanitary and chemical indicators, and 21,933 samples for microbiological indicators.

8.8% of the tested water samples did not meet hygienic standards for sanitary and chemical indicators, which is 1.2% less than in 2022 (in 2022 — 10%; the average for the Russian Federation in 2022 — 12.1 %). Samples with deviations from hygienic standards in most cases were recorded in terms of total hardness, total mineralization, chlorides, sulfates, and nitrates. The proportion of drinking water samples that do not meet hygienic standards according to sanitary and chemical indicators in the cities of Krasnoperekopsk, Armyansk, Yevpatoria, Sudak, Saki, Krasnoperekopsk, Pervomaisky, Chernomorsky, Razdolnensky, Dzhankoysky, Leninsky, Simferopol districts is higher than the national level— specified in Rospotrebnadzor.

In terms of microbiological indicators, 2.5% of drinking water samples did not meet hygienic standards, which is 0.7% more than in 2022 (in 2022 — 1.8%; the average for the Russian Federation in 2022 — 2.3 %). The proportion of drinking water samples that do not meet hygienic standards according to microbiological indicators in the Leninsky, Belogorsk, Simferopol, Bakhchisaray, Sovetsky districts and in Kerch is higher than the national level.

There is good news — according to parasitological and radiological indicators, there were no drinking water samples that did not meet hygienic standards in 2023.

In order to implement the provisions of the Federal Law of December 7, 2011 No. 416-FZ “On Water Supply and Sanitation,” the territorial departments of the Interregional Administration in 2023 sent 176 notifications to local government bodies and resource supply organizations of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol about the discrepancy between average levels indicators of water samples for the calendar year to drinking water quality standards, 6 action plans were agreed upon to bring the quality of drinking water into compliance with established requirements— reported in Rospotrebnadzor.

In 2023, the implementation of the regional project “Clean Water” continued as part of the federal project “Clean Water” of the national project “Housing and Urban Environment”, which provides funding from the federal budget for measures to improve water supply for the period 2018-2024. Rospotrebnadzor continues to monitor the situation regarding the provision of high-quality drinking water to the population.
