In Sevastopol, a criminal investigation into a road accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist has been completed

In Sevastopol, a criminal investigation has been completed against the driver of a car who, while intoxicated, violated traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the death of a 27-year-old motorcyclist. About this accident — HERE. The accident occurred on April 4, 2023, at 16:36 near house No. 35 on General Ostryakov Avenue in the Leninsky district of Sevastopol.

According to investigators, the 56-year-old driver, being in a state of drug intoxication, while driving a Mercedes Benz, did not signal with the turn indicators, changed the direction of movement to the left, and began to turn in a place where this maneuver is prohibited. At the same time, in the process of turning, he drove into the lane intended for oncoming traffic, which created a danger for the 27-year-old driver of a Suzuki motorcycle. In turn, the motorcyclist, not having a driver’s license of the appropriate category, also drove into the lane intended for oncoming traffic and moved in the same direction as the car on the left at a speed more than twice the established limit, which resulted in a collision of vehicles funds— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

As a result of the accident, the motorcycle driver died from his injuries in an ambulance at the scene.

During the preliminary investigation in a criminal case, investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs interrogated witnesses and eyewitnesses of the incident, conducted an investigative experiment, obtained conclusions of a forensic medical examination, an examination of the technical condition of vehicles, a comprehensive examination of the investigation of the circumstances of the accident and video recordings, and also carried out other investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances in a criminal case,” the police clarified.

Currently, the materials of the criminal case initiated under paragraph “a” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, sent to the prosecutor’s office for study, approval of the indictment and sending the criminal case to court. For committing the charged crime, the accused faces from five to twelve years in prison.
