In Sevastopol, police seized more than one and a half thousand cartridges from a local resident

In Sevastopol, criminal investigation officers received operational information that a 41-year-old local resident was storing a large batch of ammunition at home. Upon verification, the information received was confirmed.
As a result of operational search activities, police detained the suspect at his place of residence. When inspecting the home, investigators found and seized a wooden box with ammunition for small arms in the safe. During the count, police officers found that the man illegally possessed 1,668 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. The examination confirmed that the seized ammunition was suitable for firing.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The man explained that he found the cartridges while walking in a vacant lot and decided to keep them for himself.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition”). During the investigation, the defendant was given a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place.
