In the Museum Historical and Memorial Complex to the Heroic Defenders of Sevastopol «-I Coastal Battery» a photo exhibition «Looking Through the Family Album» was opened. It takes place as part of the 12 city patriotic festival of children’s and youth creativity «Loyalty to fathers — loyalty to the Fatherland». The works of the winners of the photo contest «Looking through the family album» are presented. Its participants recreated archival photos from their family albums — these are pictures of participants in the Great Patriotic War, local wars, liquidators of the Chernobyl accident and the consequences of natural disasters, heroes of our time.
The exhibition that we are opening today is a joint work of families. The children and their families chose photographs, which they then restored using various photographic techniques. For us, unfortunately, photography is an ordinary thing: it can be taken in a split second. And for our loved ones, each photo is an event and a family story. The opening of this exhibition, of course, is very important in the educational process, in the current realities, when the history of the family has been lost , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the first deputy director of the Department of Education and Science Maxim Krivonos.
The photo exhibition allows you to see large-scale historical events through the prism of personal stories of their participants — ordinary people.
In this photo, my great-grandmother Ulyana Semyonovna. She worked at a secret facility in an adit in Balaklava. After work, she liked to come home, gather with her family and listen to music on the gramophone. We found a photo and decided to repeat the atmosphere of that time. The gramophone from the photograph has been preserved and is still working , — notes Darina Siraeva, a participant in the exhibition.
All authors of the presented works were awarded with memorable souvenirs and thanks from the museum complex «-I coastal battery».
Residents and guests of Sevastopol can visit the exhibition “Looking through the Family Album” for a month.
