Employees and servicemen of the Russian Guard held a chess tournament for the prizes of the Main Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. OMON, SOBR and other regional divisions of the department conducted a series of chess games in a blitz format. The championship was opened by the deputy head of the territorial body of the department — the head of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of the National Guard Units in Sevastopol, Police Colonel Vladimir Sobolev.

In seven rounds of the tournament, organized according to the Swiss system, National Guardsmen from Simferopol, Kerch, Sevastopol and other cities of Crimea fought for victory on the black and white fields of chessboards.
The tournament ended with the victory of the fighters of the Kerch OMON «Berkut», their colleagues from Simferopol became the silver medalists, and the «bronze» went to the team of the Office of Private Security in the Republic of Crimea. In a solemn atmosphere, the winners were awarded cups, commemorative medals and diplomas.
According to the results of the competition, the best Crimean chess players will represent the peninsula at the championship of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.
