In Sevastopol, the construction of the Yuzhnye WWTP is at the final stage of construction
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In the Blue Bay, the last string of the deep-water outlet, which is part of the Yuzhnye WWTP, was flooded. The deep-water outlet is a pipe with a diameter of one and a half meters and a total length of 1,780 meters. Today this is the first such extended and technologically complex production in Russia.
The last part of the pipe was transported to Golubaya Bay for connection with the previously submerged string; installation work is currently underway under water. The launch of the deep-sea outlet is scheduled for mid-November, said Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
This is the final stage for the deep-sea outlet to begin functioning in full. We plan for it to be operational by mid-November. Work at the site is structured in such a way that the Yuzhnye WWTP will be launched in stages. The launch of a deep-water outlet will allow us to improve the quality of wastewater treatment even before the completion of all work. We plan that by the end of this year the release of purified water will be at the required distance from the shore, which will significantly improve the ecology of the bay,” the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
Creating a deep-sea outlet is a painstaking and technologically complex process. The process of immersing the whip was ensured by 12 pontoon platforms, 11 fleet units, 43 people worked on the surface and another 17 divers at depth.
The final stage of constructing the deep-sea outlet is underway. We are connecting the second part of the pipe, 996 meters long, with the first part, which was previously flooded in the Blue Bay. In the future, wastewater coming from the city will be treated at a WWTP, then discharged into the sea through a collector through a coastal chamber and a deep-water outlet. At its end, at a depth of 70 meters, there will be a dispersion head, which will disperse the treated wastewater into the sea. This technology and remoteness from the shore completely eliminates any harm to the environment.said Anton Makukhovsky, General Director of the Transstroyindustry company.
Let us remind you that the Yuzhnye WWTP project provides for the construction of treatment facilities with a capacity of 130 thousand cubic meters per day (with the possibility of increasing to 160 thousand), a deep-water outlet in the Blue Bay area and a discharge collector from the WWTP site to the water’s edge. The project excludes the construction of the second stage of sewage treatment facilities in Balaklava — wastewater from Balaklava will directly go through the new collector currently being designed for treatment at the Yuzhnye WWTP.
