In Sevastopol, the culprit of the accident, which resulted in the death of an elderly person, will be tried

In Sevastopol, the prosecutor’s office approved an indictment in a criminal case against a 42-year-old native of Yakutsk. He is charged under Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting in the death of a person through negligence).

According to investigators, on the night of October 15-16, 2023, a man was driving a Lada Granta car along Kamyshovskoye Highway from the direction of the street. Shevchenko in the direction of Kamyshovaya Bay with excessive speed. In the area of ​​the public transport stop «Electromechanical Plant», an elderly resident of Sevastopol was crossing the road, when he saw whom the driver did not take the necessary measures to brake, changed the direction of movement to the left towards the pedestrian’s trajectory and hit him. As a result of a traffic accident, a 71-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured and died several hours later in a medical facility, the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office reported.

The criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor’s office will be sent to the Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits.
