In Sevastopol, the environmental prosecutor's office checks dolphinariums

On behalf of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol, as part of supervision over the implementation of legislation in the field of production, protection and use of cetaceans, the Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office is inspecting dolphinariums located on the territory of the city of Sevastopol. The inspection is carried out with the involvement of specialists from the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the city of Sevastopol and the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
At the moment there are two dolphinariums in Sevastopol: in the Gagarinsky and Leninsky districts of the city. In total, they contain 8 dolphins, which are used for organizing recreational activities. During the audit, special attention was paid to compliance with the norms of legislation aimed at ensuring the safety of wildlife and humane treatment of them. Prosecutors will evaluate the legality of keeping dolphins, the quality of their nutrition, veterinary care, and the safety of the environment where mammals are , the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office reported.
Based on the results of the verification activities, the issue of taking prosecutorial response measures will be decided.
