CrimeaPRESS reports:
Servicemen of the special motorized regiment of the Southern Order of Zhukov of the National Guard District in the course of joint activities with OMON officers
«Berkut-S» of training diving descents found explosive objects related to the war period. When practicing a training task with diving in the Black Sea, at a depth of 8 meters and a distance of more than 300 meters from the coastline, the National Guard noticed suspicious metal objects covered with a layer of silt. Specialists of the underwater demining OMON «Berkut-S» found that these were 85-mm and 76-mm artillery shells during the battles of the 250-day defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942. The first ammunition was with a head fuse, and the second with a bottom fuse, and both did not lose danger over the post-war decades— reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Sevastopol.
Observing precautionary measures, the servicemen and employees of the National Guard removed explosive finds from the water and handed them over to the Ministry of Emergency Situations for further destruction at a specialized training ground.
