In Sevastopol, they completed the case of an accident in which an elderly female pedestrian died

Investigators of the investigative unit of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol completed the investigation of a criminal case against a driver accused of violating traffic rules, as a result of which a 65-year-old woman pedestrian died.

The traffic accident happened in the evening in front of the house number 7 on Boris Mikhailov Street. According to investigators, a 38-year-old driver, driving a car, did not provide an advantage in driving to a pensioner who at that time was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing, and hit her. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but died from her injuries at the hospital. As a result of the investigations, the police found that the driver, while driving, significantly exceeded the permissible speed, and was also driving in a state of intoxication.— noted in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol.

Employees of the State traffic inspectorate of Sevastopol immediately arrived at the scene of the road accident and detained the offender.

A criminal case was initiated against the suspect under Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. During the investigation, the person involved in the criminal case was elected a preventive measure in the form of house arrest.

Currently, the materials of the criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor’s office are being considered in court. The attacker faces five to twelve years in prison.
