Farms have started purchasing seed material.
Several Crimean enterprises plan to start rice production this year. This was announced by the Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Alime Zaredinova. According to her, farms in the Crimea have already started buying seed material.
Agrarians of the Republic are ready to start the rice sowing campaign. The infrastructure for its production has been preserved. The Crimean Ministry of Agriculture will soon start working on the issue of compensation for the restoration of reclamation equipment, as well as irrigation systems. Now funds are being allocated for the restoration of the North Crimean Canal itself, but everything related to on-farm networks is a huge expense. We are now collecting information and will go to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia with a proposal on the possibility of providing state support for the restoration of the melioration and irrigation systems , — Alime Zaredinova emphasized.
According to her, rice produced in the Crimea has always been in great demand due to its taste. Also, the cultivation of rice for farmers is much more economically profitable than drought-resistant grain crops, to which rice-growing enterprises were reoriented in connection with the blocking of the North Crimean Canal.
