Incident on the Taraktash ridge: a man got stuck on a rocky ledge

The day before, the emergency department’s operational control panel received information that a man was stuck on a rocky ledge of the Taraktash ridge in Sudak. He cannot go down on his own; the help of rescuers is needed to evacuate him.
The duty shift of the Sudak emergency rescue squad of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS» consisting of 4 people went to the search and rescue work area. Upon arrival to the south-eastern part of the Taraktash ridge, the Ministry of Emergency Situations contacted the man by mobile phone, gave recommendations on taking precautions and began searching. In a short time, rescuers established visual contact with the man; he was found in a difficult-to-reach area with complex rocky terrain at an altitude of about 45 meters from the base of the mountain— the details of the incident were announced by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Crimea.
With the help of climbing equipment, the man was evacuated to safety. He did not need medical attention. The entire rescue operation lasted about 1.5 hours. Finally, explanatory work was carried out with the victim on the rules of conduct in mountainous forest areas.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea reminds:

- Among the things that you need to take with you, there must be: warm clothes, additional power sources for your mobile phone, a flashlight. It is also advisable to have a GPS navigator with you.
- to travel, you should choose the safest route, even if it is longer;
In case of emergency, you must call the rescue service using a single emergency number — “112” or 101.”
