Integration of the «Stone Grave» was discussed in Tauric Chersonese

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Today in the Garden of Miniatures there was a meeting with journalists dedicated to the entry of the Stone Grave Museum-Reserve into the GIAMZ Tauric Chersonese. The corresponding instruction was given following the meeting of President Vladimir Putin with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia, which took place in November 2022

The Government of the Russian Federation was instructed to study the issue of including the historical and archaeological museum-reserve «Stone Grave», located in the Melitopol district of the Zaporozhye region, into the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve «Tauric Chersonesos» as a branch (No. Pr-2372 from December 2022).

The development of a «road map» for the integration of the museum-reserve became the main topic of today’s press conference, which was attended by the director of Tauric Chersonesos E. A. Morozova and the Minister of Culture of the Zaporozhye region Yu. V. Kovanov.

During her welcoming speech, Elena Alexandrovna noted that “Tauric Chersonesos is a serious research base, a sacred and spiritual center of the country. That is why we, with great joy and at the same time with great responsibility, accepted the instruction of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to form a new branch on the basis of Chersonesos Tauride, which will become part of our structure in the second half of this year. ”

According to the director of the cultural institution, active joint work is now underway under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to create a road map that will reflect all the stages of the new branch entering Tauric Chersonesus. “This is a very time-consuming and responsible process that requires comprehensive work from us, starting with the study of the Stone Grave collection and ending with its property composition. We must make every effort to integrate the specialists of our new branch into the Russian legal field. It is necessary to introduce information systems used by all cultural institutions of the Russian Federation and train them to work with them. We are confident that such a unique and iconic cultural object as the “Stone Grave” will become part of Tauric Chersonesos, will meet all the requirements for the preservation of cultural heritage and will provide opportunities for even greater development of the scientific community and will attract visitors who want to study the history of their country , — notes Elena Alexandrovna.

The Minister of Culture of the Zaporizhia Region Yu. V. Kovanov thanked the management of the museum-reserve for the warm welcome and noted that “we are very pleased that our cultural object has come under the wing of Tauric Chersonese. «Stone Grave» will become a federal museum-reserve — this is one of the most important steps in the integration of the culture of the Zaporozhye region into the Russian Federation. On our part, we will provide all possible assistance so that the “Stone Grave” becomes attractive for tourists, so that many people get the opportunity to learn the history of their country”.

According to Yuri Vladimirovich, the immediate plans include protecting the surrounding landscape from development and preserving the cultural heritage of this unique place. For these purposes, funding is already being allocated, specialists are being trained and measures are being taken to develop infrastructure.

Already in March of this year, a trip of representatives of Tauric Chersonesos to Melitopol is planned to assess the state of the funds, territory and exposition halls of the Stone Grave and draw up a plan for the arrangement and reconstruction of the museum-reserve. It is expected that the active phase of the process of joining the branch into Chersonese Tauride will take place in the second half of this year.
