Kerch Art Gallery celebrates its 39th anniversary

On May 7, 1985, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Kerch Art Gallery was opened.
The gallery initially bore the name of the People’s Artist of the RSFSR, one of the leading masters of the Studio of Military Artists named after. M. Grekova Nikolai Buta (1928-1989). His paintings and sketches donated to the city on the theme “Adzhimushkay. 1942” became the exhibition basis of the art gallery. Today the art gallery, an object that is part of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, is the center of the cultural life of the citynoted the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.
Since 1987, the art gallery has been the main exhibition hall of the museum-reserve, and currently represents the fine arts of Kerch, its culture from antiquity to the present day, illustrating both the past and present of the ancient city. Temporary art exhibitions from the collections of museums in Crimea and other regions of Russia, as well as personal and collective exhibitions of artists are exhibited here. Thematic meetings in the format of the scientific and educational event “Living Room on Dvoryanskaya” are especially popular among the city’s creative intelligentsia and art lovers. Representatives of the city’s educational and cultural institutions, literary associations, and public organizations take part in them.
