March 21 is International Day of Forests. Crimean firefighters conduct raids
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Since the beginning of 2024, 4 forest fires have already been extinguished in Crimea. Thanks to early detection, the fire was not allowed to spread over a large area, but every year during the fire season, green hectares are in danger. In dry summer climates, large numbers of coniferous trees and dry forest floors, one spark can start a large fire.
Today, March 21, on the International Day of Forests, specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations are conducting raids on forested areas in Yalta and Feodosia, checking preparations for the fire danger period, which will begin on April 1. To prevent the spread of fire to populated areas, mineralized strips are created, dry vegetation and seasonal debris are removed, and preventive conversations are held with local residents— reported the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea.
The Department of Supervisory Activities and Preventive Work of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea regularly carries out measures to ensure fire safety in the mountainous forest area of the peninsula. Staff communicate with the public and distribute information leaflets.
