It is because of these stories that it is customary to go to the graves of loved ones on this day to talk and cry. Also on May 3rd people often call out to deceased relatives. It is believed that in order not to upset loved ones, you should not start even the most petty quarrels; you need to show the deceased that there is only peace and harmony in the family, so that their souls are calm. No one had fun on this day, no one had parties, because those who are negligent in remembering the dead will soon face a dark streak from which it will be very difficult to get out.
On the day of the Calling of Ancestors, many performed rituals, believing that today it is possible to help those sick with a wide variety of ailments recover, as well as protect themselves and their family from adversity. Considering that May 3, according to church beliefs, is the day of St. Feodor, it is customary among peasants to set up a table with bread and salt on the outskirts of the village. Church candles were also lit on the table. They believed that if you pray at this table for a fruitful year, your prayers will definitely be heard from above.

- A lot of fir cones — the bread will be harvested well, the rye harvest will be known from the pine tree
- Whatever begins to grow in the future: grass or rye, will bring a rich harvest
- They usually didn’t plan any important things, didn’t organize christenings or weddings
- In the old days, May 3 had a certain meaning for fishermen, since on this day it was strictly forbidden to cast nets and catch fish that were spawning at that time

Here he led such a strict lifestyle that he greatly exhausted his flesh, so that his face became like a dead man. For whole nights he stood in prayer and, despite the cold and frost, never covered his head and wore only one prickly hair garment, for which he was nicknamed, as they say, hair shirt or trichina. Then the monastery in which the saint spent his harsh life began to be called by his name.
For his exploits, Saint Theodore received from God power over demons, and, having performed many miracles, he departed to the Lord in peace. He performed miracles not only during his life, but also after his repose, for from his holy relics flowed fragrant healing myrrh, which, for the glory of Christ our God, cured many diseases and drove out unclean spirits.
