Night accident in Razdolnensky district: the driver hit a pedestrian to death and… fled from the scene of the collision
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Police officers in the Razdolnensky district detained a driver who fled the scene of an accident. As the traffic police clarified, the fatal collision occurred late in the evening (at 22:15) on February 19 on the Slavyanskoye — Yevpatoria highway.
The driver of an unidentified car did not choose a safe speed, did not take into account visibility in the direction of travel and allowed a collision with a pedestrian, a 42-year-old man, who was on the roadway in the direction of the car. As a result, the pedestrian was fatally injured, and the driver, in violation of clause 2.5 of the Russian Traffic Regulations, fled from the scene of the traffic accident— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
Police patrol crews were focused on searching for the attacker. As a result of a set of measures taken, the police determined what kind of transport was passing in the area of the accident at the time it occurred.
A few hours after the incident, employees of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs in the Razdolnensky district identified the driver. He turned out to be a 61-year-old local resident who had no previous convictions. A man on the territory of his household began dismantling a vehicle with traces of an accident. He explained to the police that he had not noticed a pedestrian on the roadway in the dark wearing clothes without reflective elements. It was established that an acquaintance of the driver was also in the car at the time of the accident.
The investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Razdolnensky district is deciding on the initiation of a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of a person through negligence, associated with leaving the scene of an accident). All necessary operational and investigative actions are being carried out. A number of examinations have been appointed— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
