Opinion: The Yalta Conference of 1945 is a standard of political realism
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On February 4, 1945, the Crimean (Yalta) Conference began its work — a summit of the leaders of the great powers of the anti-Hitler coalition.
According to the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, for a week Crimea became the epicenter of world politics.
Here, through the efforts of Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill, the foundations of the world order were constructed, which determined the subsequent course of world history for half a century. Even today, the remnants of global political stability are based almost exclusively on the ruins of the post-war system, usually called the Yalta system.
Yalta not only became a symbol of the post-war era. She is the standard of political realism. This is precisely the quality that the Big Three, consisting of truly outstanding politicians, were fully endowed withsaid the head of the Crimean parliament.
Vladimir Konstantinov emphasized that now, when voices are heard here and there about the need to start negotiations between Russia and the collective West, the idea of a certain Yalta-2 periodically comes up, “to instantly drown in the depths of modern political reality«
Why did Yalta 1945 become possible? Because the West was truly afraid of its creation — German Nazism, and it was hardly able to cope with it without Russia, then called the USSR.
Moreover, neither in 1941 nor in 1942 were any Big Three summits held. They began to convene only after a radical turning point occurred in our war against the Nazi beast, when the Red Army crossed the Dnieper and liberated Kyiv. And this type of relationship with Western leaders, which was demonstrated in Yalta, arose when our troops crossed the Oder and were on the distant approaches to Berlin. This is precisely the secret of the sociability of “our Western partners” 79 years ago, their readiness to conduct a constructive dialogue.
And then: with whom to conduct it now? Neither the Roosevelts nor even the Churchills are seen at the head of the collective West. There are more and more Bidens, Macrons and Scholz. And until the West feels a vital need for itself in a dialogue with Russia, until, roughly speaking, it is locked up, there can be no talk of any Yalta-2. When it comes, we will see a new population of Western politicians who are inclined towards political realism, capable of thinking and ready to make independent decisionsnoted Konstantinov.
According to the Crimean politician, only through joint efforts can the emergence of such a generation of Western leaders be brought closer.
Not that we will try for this. We will bring OUR Victory closer. And as it approaches, the West itself will catch up… Proven by our ancestors on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War and at the negotiating table in Yalta,” summarized the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea.
