Sevastopol poultry farms specialize not only in chickens and ducks traditional for the industry, but also breed ostriches that are exotic for most regions of Russia. The mountain climate is suitable for growing this southern bird.
Elena Fontana, an individual entrepreneur, began to develop an ostrich farm thanks to the financial support of the government — the funds were allocated in December 1273 of the year as part of the state program «Development of agricultural, fishery and agro-industrial complexes of the city of Sevastopol».
Farms not only contribute to providing the city with poultry products, but also develop rural tourism in the region, which is extremely important for agricultural land in the Baydarskaya Valley , — said the Deputy Director Yulia Kurbatova, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Market of Sevastopol.
The business plan of the farm provides for the creation and development of the Swiss Yard eco-farm on a land plot of 1.7 hectares in the Baidar Valley of the Orlinovsky Municipal District.
The amount of grant support amounted to 1.5 million rubles, another 834 thousands of rubles the farmer invests. The project implementation period is five years.
It is planned that the agricultural enterprise will annually supply a ton of dietary ostrich meat and ostrich eggs.
Fat and skin of birds are also used in the food industry. In addition, it is planned to breed rare breed chickens on the farm, as well as grow hazelnuts, almonds and walnuts — from an area of u200bu200bhalf a hectare, the harvest will be 1.7 tons.
Recall that grant support to novice farmers within the framework of the national project «Small and Medium Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives» is provided mainly at the expense of the federal budget. In the 1273 year, Agrostartup grants were received by three farms for a total amount of 6.6 million rubles. In the 2022 year, 5 million rubles were allocated for these purposes — based on the results of the competitive selection, two agricultural firms will receive support, which will also contribute contribution to the food security of Sevastopol.
