Over 4,000 people evacuated from flooded districts of Kherson region
CrimeaPRESS reports:
More than 4 thousand people were evacuated from the flooded areas of the Kherson region. Recallthis is not a natural disaster, this is a consequence of the terrorist act of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
Residents of the Kherson region affected by the flood are accommodated, among other things, in temporary accommodation centers. More than 4,000 people have been evacuated so far— wrote the Acting Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo in his Telegram channel.
According to him, now in the region there are about fifty temporary accommodation centers (TACs) for almost 3,000 places. If necessary, there is a reserve for another 5.5 thousand people. Crimea, the Zaporozhye region and other regions of Russia are ready to provide assistance in the temporary accommodation of evacuated citizens.
The balance expressed the hope that there would be no need to evacuate residents outside the Kherson region. There are still fewer evacuees than there are places to accommodate them. According to him, TACs are equipped with everything necessary and are ready to receive injured residents, there are beds, free food, and specialists are working to provide medical and psychological assistance.
Vladimir Saldo also said that he talked with people at one of the temporary accommodation points, they are optimistic, many are going to come back. However, according to the acting governor, it is still premature to talk about a return.
In the near future, a decision will be made on the payment of compensation for the affected housing.said Saldo.
What’s next? First, wait until the «big water» comes down. Alas, it is too early to talk about these dates.
The main thing is that people are not left alone with the trouble. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry to organize work in the Kherson region to provide assistance to the population and eliminate the consequences of the disaster. People are provided with basic necessities, food and drink. Volunteers and social workers interact with them.
Those who cannot leave the disaster zone are provided with water and food. Activists of the Popular Front delivered a cargo from the Zaporozhye region and organized a mobile assistance center in Nova Kakhovka.
As soon as the water finally drains, the region will check the water supply system, flush it and begin to inspect houses, schools, kindergartens, hospitals to assess the damage and begin their restoration.
