River mouths cleared in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Employees of Sevprirodnadzor clear the riverbeds regularly. From 2016 to 2021 years, work was carried out on the rivers Kacha, Belbek, Chernaya, Ai-Todorka and Balaklavka — sections with a total length of about 18 km.

Clearing riverbeds prevents blockages and improves water flow. Currently, within the framework of the state contract, work is underway to clear a section of the Belbek river bed with a length of 1.6 km — in the area from the bridge in the village of Frontovoe to Pirogov Street, — quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology Yulia Gavrilova.

Work on the Belbek River is carried out in two stages. The first one will be completed before the end of this year, the second one will be completed in August-September 2023. To date, the riverbed has been cleared of fallen trees, trees and shrubs, household waste, silt deposits that prevented the free flow of water.

After the completion of the second stage of clearing, work will be carried out on the reproduction of aquatic biological resources. To do this, in August-September 2023 of the year, about 6.5 thousand Black Sea salmon fry will be released into the Black Sea basin — the Mzymta or Shahe rivers. Now work is underway to conclude an agreement with Glavrybvod on their cultivation. Also this year, on behalf of the governor, the Balaklavka river bed was cleared in the vicinity of the Gornyak stadium , notes Yulia Gavrilova.

In addition, Sevprirodnadzor is preparing for a flood-prone period 2023 of the year — the rivers Kacha, Balaklavka, Belbek, Chernaya, Dry river, Baidarka and Ai-Todorka are already being surveyed. Department staff checks for congestion that could pose a flood risk during severe floods.

Separately, I want to say that Sevastopol annually participates in the All-Russian action «Water of Russia». In the 2022 year, 11 measures were taken to clean up the banks of water bodies from debris within the boundaries of the city — these are the rivers Belbek, Balaklavka, Chernaya, the reservoir » Urkusta». Residents actively participate in these events, they always respond to the call to participate in the action, for which we are very grateful to the people of Sevastopol , — says the director of the department.

Recall that the total length of small rivers and streams that are in federal ownership and flowing in the territory of Sevastopol is about 224 km.
