Roskomnadzor recorded attempts to interfere in elections by foreigners
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Roskomnadzor recorded attempts of foreign interference in the conduct of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation. In total, more than 3 thousand Internet pages, resources and publications aimed at disrupting the elections were blocked.
In anticipation of the presidential elections of the Russian Federation, Roskomnadzor conducted constant monitoring of the information space to identify and suppress the dissemination of information aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in the country.
As in previous years, we are recording organized and coordinated information attempts by foreign interference in the election campaign. Within the limits of our powers and available capabilities, we promptly respond to such attempts. Since the beginning of the year, Roskomnadzor has limited access to almost 2 thousand Internet pages containing such content, most of which are hosted on foreign platforms and sources owned by foreign agents“, said the head of the department for control and supervision in the field of electronic communications, Yevgeny Zaitsev, at a briefing at the CEC information center on March 17.
During the monitoring of the information space, about 1.3 thousand resources and publications containing calls for participation in uncoordinated mass events, which were planned during the election period with the aim of disrupting them, were also identified and then deleted or blocked, which confirms their purposeful nature . Cases of destructive video advertising aimed at disrupting election events were also identified on various websites.
The creation of fake accounts on social networks and websites of territorial election commissions was recorded. Such resources and Internet pages were blocked, deleted, and marked accordingly as fakeadded Zaitsev.
As expected, the enemies of Russia consolidated their efforts to try to interfere in the conduct of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation or even disrupt them, but all attempts were unsuccessful thanks to the clear work of the authorized departments, noted Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications.
Foreign interests tried in various ways to spread destructive information about the electoral process, organizing cyber attacks and uncoordinated actions. However, none of the above could prevent the holding of elections, and at a high level — as openly, democratically, and transparently as possible. This was also recognized by the Secretary General, head of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization observer mission, Zhang Ming, following the results of international observation of the elections. They also assessed the remote electronic voting system as an innovative step by the Russian government, which was made with the aim of providing all the necessary convenience to voters. Our country has shown that it is the undisputed leader in digitalization, including the electoral process.notes the deputy.
However, the completion of the elections will not mean a decline in the interest of cybercriminals in our country, Anton Nemkin emphasized.
Unfortunately, massive attacks will definitely continue. Moreover, angry that they are unable to do anything, hackers will look for new ways. However, we are ready for any aggravation; the successful operation of all systems, including those that were launched only this year, during the elections was confirmation of this“, concluded the parliamentarian.
