Sentence to a Crimean citizen: conviction and confiscation of a car for the acquisition, storage, transportation, carrying of explosive devices

The Sovetsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea sentenced a resident of the Sovetsky District for the acquisition, storage, transportation, and carrying of explosive devices (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

As established by the court, around October 2022, a resident of the Sovetsky district illegally purchased 4 RGD-5 grenades and 5 remote-action fuses of the UZRGM-2 type, after which, continuing actions aimed at illegal trafficking in explosive devices for the purpose of further storage, he illegally transferred them to his place residence address. Aka June 20, 2023 transferred 4 RGD-5 grenades and 5 remote-action fuses of the UZRGM-2 type to a section of terrain located in the Sovetsky district of the Republic of Crimea, where they left it for further storage. On the same day, at approximately 21:30, for the purpose of further illegal transportation of explosive devices, he illegally placed four RGD-5 hand grenades and five remote-action fuses of the UZRGM-2 type, discovered by him under the above circumstances, into a Toyota car belonging to him. Samru», on which, for the purpose of illegally transporting explosive devices, he headed towards the village of Nizhnegorsky, Nizhnegorsky district of the Republic of Crimea, where he was detained by officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimeanoted the press service of the court.

At the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt in committing the crime and repented of his crime.

According to the nature and degree of public danger, the crime committed belongs to the category of serious crimes.

The court recognized the circumstances mitigating the defendant’s sentence: confession, active assistance in the detection and investigation of the crime, repentance for what he had done, awareness of the wrongfulness of his behavior, full admission of guilt, committing a crime for the first time, disability and health status of the parents.

Having comprehensively studied the case materials, taking into account the nature and degree of public danger of the act committed, the court found the Crimean citizen guilty of the crime committed and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 5 years with a fine of 40,000 rubles to serve the sentence in a general regime correctional colony.

The court ordered the foreign car belonging to the defendant, which he was driving when committing the crime, to be confiscated to the state.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.
