Sergei Aksenov: Russia’s migration policy needs to be tightened

CrimeaPRESS reports:

When hiring employees, employers should give preference to Russian citizens over migrant workers. This opinion was expressed by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov during an interview with VGTRK special correspondent Olga Kurlaeva on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

As Sergei Aksyonov emphasized, the rights and freedoms of Russians must be reliably protected, and the current concept of migration policy must be tightened.

According to various estimates, there are about 14 million migrants in our country. Unfortunately, there is a tendency to unite them into ethnic enclaves, within which they set their own rules and create a familiar way of life. This not only does not help them integrate into our society, assimilate, but also provokes conflicts and affects the growth of crimesays the Head of the Republic.

Recently, during raids across Crimea, 85 foreigners were identified whose presence in the republic was considered undesirable. According to the law, the measure of responsibility for violating the stay regime is deportation, which Sergei Aksyonov recognizes as insufficient.

The Republic of Crimea plans to initiate amendments to federal legislation, according to which employers will have to bear full responsibility for labor migrants from the moment of their entry until departure to their homeland— said Aksyonov.

He emphasized that the current state of affairs is not a matter of discrimination based on nationality or religion.

Earlier, Sergei Aksyonov signed two decrees, according to which new conditions were established on the territory of the Republic for attracting foreign citizens to work.

So, decree dated April 11, 2024, establishes a rule according to which the patent for temporary work activities issued in the territory of the Republic of Crimea to foreign citizens must indicate their profession. The Decree of April 15, 2024 establishes a ban until the end of this year on the employment by business entities of foreign citizens carrying out labor activities on the basis of patents, by individual types economic activity.
