Sevastopol: doctors and traffic police specialists held a “Healthy Driver Day”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Doctors from the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention and traffic police officers, with the support of City Hospital No. 1, held a joint event “Healthy Driver Day”. The event took place as part of the All-Russian Day of Sobriety, which is celebrated annually on September 11. The raid is aimed at preventing road accidents involving or caused by drivers while intoxicated, as well as strengthening preventive measures to identify chronic and acute diseases or conditions in which the concentration of attention and reaction speed of drivers is significantly reduced.
High blood pressure in a driver while driving can cause a hypertensive crisis and cause a heart attack or stroke. Even the most common cold, which results in intoxication, weakness, increased body temperature, pain in the eyes and lacrimation, is a factor that increases the risk of an accident– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chief freelance therapist of the Department of Health, Lyudmila Sheremet.
During the protest, doctors measured motorists’ blood pressure. For those whose it was higher than normal, doctors gave medications in accordance with medical indications.
Some drivers had high blood pressure, with one male truck driver having a blood pressure of 190/100. This is hypertension. He knew about this, but did not take antihypertensive drugs in the morning. We gave him medications, waited until his blood pressure returned to basic levels, and only then allowed him to continue driving. They told the driver about the medical examination. According to the man, he was repeatedly invited this year to undergo a preventive examination and medical examination, but he never allocated time for this.
It is very important to show with such examples that a person may not feel increased pressure, but this fact will certainly affect the quality of driving and pose a threat to both the driver himself and the road users around him, says Lyudmila Sheremet.
Drivers received from the staff of the Public Health Center “Health Diaries of a Sevastopol Resident”, information materials on the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases, vaccination, medical examination, the dangers of alcohol and tobacco consumption, proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle rules.
A total of 32 drivers took part in the event. 8 of them had high blood pressure. Our specialists told everyone about the risks of this condition, the dangers of driving, the importance of monitoring your health and the need to systematically take antihypertensive drugs.says the doctor.
Similar events are planned to be held every quarter.
Let us remind you that in Sevastopol the implementation of the regional project “Formation of a system of motivating citizens to a healthy lifestyle, including healthy eating and giving up bad habits” of the national project “Demography” continues. It is aimed at motivating people to a healthy lifestyle and giving up bad habits, promoting healthy eating, reducing interest in alcohol and protecting non-smokers from tobacco smoke. The priority task is to increase the number of citizens who take responsibility for their health, including those who systematically engage in physical education and sports.
